For many years, the DDSWMA has been proud to partner with Alberta's Used Oil Materials Recycling Program, helping residents safely recycle used oil, filters, and containers. We're excited to see the program expand to include additional materials such as antifreeze, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), windshield washer fluid containers, and their associated containers, making it even easier to keep these materials out of our landfill. The program has also increased accepted container sizes from 30L to 50L, providing more recycling opportunities for Albertans.
We are pleased to continue supporting this important program and look forward to offering residents more ways to recycle responsibly and protect our environment.

♻️ Residential Solar Panel Recycling Program coming to DDSWMA!♻️
Exciting news! DDSWMA is proud to be a registered collector for Alberta's new Solar Panel Recycling Program through Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA).
With solar panels now prohibited from landfill disposal in Alberta and Canada's first formal solar panel recycling program launching on October 1, 2026, this program provides a responsible solution for managing end-of-life solar panels. Recovered materials can be diverted from landfill, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable, circular economy.
We're proud to help provide local recycling options for residents throughout our region.
Wet weather conditions negatively impact the landfill, it takes no more then 1/4 inch of moisture to affect the landfill access roads and the active disposal area. Under excessive moisture conditions management recommends accessing the Landfill with only four wheel drive vehicles. Staff and equipment operators do their best to accomodate customers during this time however there are times when we do ask customers to try and avoid the landfill until conditions have improved. With this in mind we have a weather banner on the website and facebook page to keep our users informed of road conditions. This will allow us to get the information out to the public quickly and provide updates in a timely manner.

GREEN BANNER = GOOD ROAD CONDITIONS
YELLOW BANNER = FAIR ROAD CONDITIONS: RECOMMENDING 4X4. NO LOW PROFILE VEHICLES OR TRAILERS
RED BANNER = POOR ROAD CONDITIONS: 4X4 ONLY RECOMMENDING CUSTOMERS WAIT FOR IMPROVED ROAD CONDITIONS IF POSSIBLE
